HDK202-P23 intermittant mouse and keyboard issues, ASUS Z170-A mobo
Just built a new Win11 machine, migrating from older desktop with ASUS Z170-A mobo. My KVM worked fine out of the box with the Win11 new machine, new ASus mobo, the works. Switching to the older machine the mouse would stutter across the screen or not appear at all, keyboard would ‘stick’. Discovered that Intel Virtualization (VT-x) and VT-d) are disabled by default in the bios. Booted into bios, under CPU configuration, enabled both these settings. Everything works fine now.

Dear Mike Henry,
Thank you for sharing the details of your setup. The behavior you experienced is consistent with older ASUS motherboards where Intel VT-x and VT-d are disabled by default. Since USB switching in a KVM relies on proper device enumeration and interrupt handling, having VT-d turned off can cause mouse stuttering, cursor loss, or keyboard input issues when switching between hosts.
We’re glad to hear that enabling VT-x and VT-d in the BIOS resolved the problem on your Z170-A system. This is a known compatibility point for some older platforms, and your feedback will help other users as well.
If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out anytime.
Best regards,
