Connecting a Mac Studio using a KVM
I just ordered a M4 Mac Studio and will be running the video output from it through a PKS0802A10 (4 CPU X 2 monitor) KVM to a pair of Dell U2412m monitors. Does it matter if I use the HDMI port and one of the T-Bolt ports or if I use two T-Bolt ports to feed the KVM from the Studio?
I'm a bit concerned about timing issues. I'm going to need to buy new cables in any case. I already have an iMac 27/5K connected to one of the other KVM inputs using T-Bolt and that works very well.
TIA

Dear Ronnie Day,
Thank you for reaching out with your question about connecting your new M4 Mac Studio to the PKS0802A10 KVM. I appreciate the details you provided, and I’m happy to offer some guidance.
Recommendations:
1.Preferred Option: Use two Thunderbolt ports on the Mac Studio to connect to the KVM.This ensures signal consistency (minimizing timing issues) and aligns with your current iMac setup, which works well via Thunderbolt.
You’ll need two Thunderbolt to DisplayPort cables (KVM DisplayPort input).
2.Alternative Option: If needed, you could use HDMI + one Thunderbolt port, but this might introduce minor timing differences between the two monitors.
Note: Purchase high-quality Thunderbolt to DisplayPort cables (e.g., Belkin or Cable Matters) if proceeding with the dual Thunderbolt approach.
Your existing iMac’s successful Thunderbolt connection suggests this is a reliable path for the Mac Studio as well. Let me know if you’d like further clarification!
