    Hello,

    Thank you for describing your setup in detail — it really helps us understand the issue you're encountering.

    About the Issue

    The TESmart DKS202-M24 is a KVM switch designed to support 2 computers and 2 monitors, with two typical display modes:

    • Dual-Screen Mode (PC1 or PC2): Both monitors display the same computer.
    • Split-Screen Mode: One monitor shows PC1, and the other shows PC2.

    In your actual setup:

    Two monitors are connected through the KVM;

    A third monitor is directly connected to your desktop PC (not via the KVM).

    This 3-monitor configuration introduces a unique challenge:

    When the KVM is in Dual-Screen Mode and both displays are switched to the laptop, the system assumes that the desktop PC is not being used or viewed. Based on this built-in logic, the KVM will disable the ability to switching keyboard/mouse control focus to the desktop.

    So when you press the hotkey in this state, it will not switch the keyboard and mouse. This is not a malfunction, but rather a result of the product's original logic design.

    Why It Occasionally Worked Before

    You mentioned that it worked once or twice before — having two monitors show the laptop while the third (direct-connected) monitor displayed the desktop, and still being able to control the desktop via keyboard/mouse.

    This likely happened because you were in Split-Screen Mode at the time:

    When your setup is in split Mode A + Mode B, and you hope to switch to Mode A or Mode B, using Right Ctrl + Right Ctrl + ←/→ or the remote control’s A/B + 1/2 buttons, the KVM will stay in split mode. In this case, it assumes both PCs are active, and the Right Alt + Right Alt hotkey remains available for switching keyboard and mouse.

    However, if you used the Select button on the KVM front panel, Right Ctrl + Right Ctrl + 1/2 hotkey, or the remote’s 1/2 button to switch to Mode A or Mode B, the KVM will turn to Dual-Screen Mode. In this state, the hotkey Right Alt + Right Alt is disabled by design.

    Solution

    To better support your specific 3-monitor setup, we can offer you a custom firmware upgrade. Once applied, it will enable the following:

    • The Right Alt + Right Alt hotkey will remain active at all times, whether you're in Dual-Screen or Split-Screen mode;
    • Fully compatible with your setup: two monitors via KVM + one directly connected to the desktop PC, with full keyboard/mouse control flexibility.

    We’ve submitted your request to our technical team. Please allow up to 3 business days for the custom firmware to be prepared. We will contact you as soon as it's ready, along with instructions for installation.

    If you have any further questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out. We truly appreciate your feedback and your support of TESmart products!

    Hi, I just realized that after flashing this custom firmware, my USB out only works for the USB IN 1, but not USB IN 2.

    It seems that my USB OUT (either port 1 or 2) is in “always connected” state with USB IN 1.

    Could you please fix this while retaining the functionality with Double-Alt working on third monitor ?

    Thank you so much.

    Greg
