    Thank you for your message.

    What you’re experiencing is normal behavior caused by the KVM’s EDID emulation. The switch keeps both monitors logically connected to each Mac to ensure smooth switching and prevent resolution or layout resets. As a result, your M4 still detects two external displays even when one screen is actively showing the M1.

    At the system level, macOS does not allow a display to be fully “ignored” while its EDID is still present. As a workaround, you may manually adjust the display arrangement in macOS settings.
