Overheating Fire Hazard Potential with Remote control for the 2 Computer KVM model HKS202-M24
I am making this post to bring everyones' (and the company's) attention to a potentially serious fire hazard regarding the remote control for the HKS202-M24 model kvm switch.
The issue:
I received the switch on January 6, 2026, added two duracel AAA 1.5 v alkaline batteries and within 2 minutes I noticed a burning smell, a portion of the remote control's cover over the battery casing began bubbling up and became too hot to touch. I removed the batteries and the process stopped. To test, i reinserted with a different set of aaa 1.5v batteries and the same thing happened again. The concern is if this would cause the remote to eventually catch on fire had I not noticed this situation and left the remote for an extended period of time.
Hopefully someone from the engineering/tech support team can reach out to resolve this.
