Screen not coming up after switching to input 1
Hi, I have the HKS201-P23. Source 1 is my laptop and Source 2 is my desktop. Frequently if i'm in Source 2 and switch to Source 1, the screen wont come up. The only way to get it to come back up is if I power off the KVM and power it back on. This doesnt happen every time I switch but happens alot and it only happens when switching from 2 to 1. It's never happened when switching to 2. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations?
Thank you!
Mike

Dear Mike W,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing these details. We’re sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing with your HKS201-P23.
Based on your description, it seems that when switching from Source 2 (desktop) to Source 1 (laptop), the display signal is not properly detected, but the issue does not occur in the opposite direction. This is likely related to HDMI handshake or EDID recognition timing between the KVM and your laptop.
Here are a few recommendations you can try:
1. Keep your monitor powered on before switching inputs.
2. When the screen doesn’t come up, try unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable between your laptop and the KVM — if the signal returns, it confirms a handshake delay.
3. Update your laptop’s graphics driver and ensure the latest OS updates are installed.
4. You may also try switching to a different HDMI cable, as signal stability can vary between cables.
If the issue persists after these steps, please let us know your laptop model and operating system, so our technical team can further investigate and, if needed, provide a firmware update or tailored solution.
Best regards,

Dear Mike Morrow,
Thank you for reaching out and providing these details. We’re sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing with your DKS202-M24-USBK.
From your description, both monitors work fine when switching to your laptop, but when switching back to your main computer, the 4K monitor does not display until you power it off and on again. Based on this behavior, the issue is likely related to the HDMI/DisplayPort handshake or EDID recognition timing when switching sources.
Here are a few steps you can try:
1. Disable “Auto Source Detect” or “Power Saving” mode in your 4K monitor’s OSD settings. This helps the monitor maintain a stable input when the signal switches.
2.When the 4K display stays black, try replugging the video cable from the KVM to the monitor — if the image returns, it confirms a handshake delay.
3. Update your graphics driver on your main PC and, if possible, use a certified high-quality HDMI or DisplayPort cable rated for 4K60Hz or higher.
If the issue persists, please share your graphics card model and 4K monitor brand/model, so our technical team can further verify compatibility and offer a specific solution or firmware update if needed.
Best regards,
